HMS TAMAR is affiliated with the China Fleet Trust, the military charity who own the China Fleet Country Club, and with the County of Cornwall and the City of Truro. Cornwall Council collected Cornish produce to deliver to HMS TAMAR in time for Christmas and to fly the flag for Cornwall as HMS TAMAR conducts Defence Engagement in the countries the ship visits. HMS TAMAR will be spending its third Christmas away from the UK, having deployed from Portsmouth in September 2021.
The move of produce saw the result of a co-ordinated effort between the three affiliated partners to HMS TAMAR and demonstrates the importance of collaboration in supporting the deployed ship. WO1 Alex Orr (part of the Naval Regional Commander for Wales & West of England’s team) collected the produce from the Council offices in Truro for delivery to the China Fleet County Club. HMS TAMAR’s CPO Steve Pearse, then collected the produce from the Trust’s office at the Club for onward delivery to HMS TAMAR. Bishop Cornish Primary School have written cards to the personnel on HMS TAMAR which were delivered to the Club and passed on with the produce.
All involved wish the new Commanding Officer, Cdr Tom Gell RN, and the ships company of HMS TAMAR a Happy Christmas. You will be in our thoughts over the festive period.
